Task Status in PI different from Outlook and native Berry PIM?

When I run DM sync Outlook <> native Berry PIM, the Task Status syncs between them. However, when I run the local sync native Berry PIM <> PI the Task Status doesn't sync netween them.

I've also noticed the available values are different.

In Outlook and native Berry PIM they are :
- Not Started
- In Progress
- Completed
- Waiting on Someone Else ("Waiting" in native Berry PIM)
- Deferred

In PI they are :
- Normal
- Completed
- Delegate
- In Process

I'm thinking Task Status in PI bears no relation to that in Outlook & native Berry PIM and they do not sync. Has anyone else explored this? Am I right? Is there a guide to what does/doesn't sync if local sync is used? Trial and error is proving soooo painful!

Need Help Clarifying How Sync Works

New to Blackberry. Just loaded PI. Thrilled to have it.
Before PI I was syncing between the Blackberry and Outlook 2007 and everything worked well.
Added PI. I was very confused about how the Sync worked. It seemed to be working but I really wanted to understand what is happening. I'm not very technically oriented.

After playing with it, reading the manual, and several posts here I think I understand how it works but would appreciate someone verfying that I understand it correctly.

When I first started PI I told it to sync just with Outlook.
On the device Local Sync is set to none. On Desktop Manager I have the Addin configured to sync everything.

Before PI I opened Desktop Manager and did the sync.
After installing PI and configuring it's addin on Desktop Manager it appears there is a second sync that takes place. It has different notification boxs.

The first sync is the one I had before. Outlook and the Blackberry apps are syncing.
The second sync is between PI and Outlook?

So that means if I change or add something in PI it syncs to Outlook during that second sync?
Now the changes I made in PI are also on Outlook. But they are not on the native Blackberry apps yet?

If I start the sync process again those changes will now be synced with the native Blackberry apps because they are on Outlook when I start the sync?

I don't plan on using the native apps to make changes on the Blackberry but if I did those changes would sync to Outlook and then immediately sync to PI?

Do I understand this correctly? I know this sounds dumb but I was so confused about this for quite awhile. I'd like to know I have this straight.

Thanks for any help.

So far everything seems to be working.
I love the app. It adds what I thought was missing. Lets me see more of my data.

Thanks!

Any way to view Tasks by Start Date?

Just went to a Priority Management seminar where they're big on every Task having a Start and End Date, and viewing your Task list by Start Date. The idea is if I have task that aren't due until Friday but I could start them today, I should look for what I can start working on today. However, I can't find how to do this with PI. I also need to group them by Category as well.

I just took my entire Task list in Outlook and added Start Dates then customized my Outlook view to group by Start Date - if I can't do this somehow with PI I may have to find an alternative and REALLY don't want to do that.

So : how can I see all Tasks with a Start Date = today, grouped by Category?

I use Pocket Informant on my Berry, with a strong emphasis on Task Management. The Contacts list is tightly tied to my email and Berry messaging. My configuration is :

Franklin Covey/GTD with PI and Outlook

We have people using iPhones and Berries, but we're all using Outlook 2010. We want to improve our internal coordination, time & priority management.

My thought is that finding a software tool that supports GTD and/or Franklin Covey then getting our team to a seminar on the underlying principles will make us all more effective working together as well as on our own.

Questions :

1) With PI, can you use both the GTD and Franklin Covey capabilities at the same time?

2) With PI, can you use the GTD and/or Franklin Covey features while syncing to/from Outlook? Is there any additional software required?

3) With PI, what are the differences (if any) between the iPhone and Berry GTD/Franklin Covey features? Does adding Outlook integration change anything?

3) Not PI-related, but any recommendations on the pros/cons of either technique (GTD and Franklin Covey) in the real world would be appreciated

New Event/Meeting and Invitation Question

I am currently trialing PI on my BB and I like it much more than a couple of other apps I've looked at.
Until now I have just been using the native calendar and syncing to a gmail account. I have figured out the syncing steps to get from PI to gmail and it is working fine.

My question has to do with entering a New Event or Meeting in PI and adding people in the Attendees list from my contacts. I would like to just keep these Attendee(s) local in the Event and not send out a meeting invitation. I have checked settings in PI and gmail and do not find anything to turn it off. I have found that I can add links to contacts in the Notes field without an invitation being sent. Is the alternative?
I hope I've given enough information. Let me know if more will help.

Sharing google calendars with PI for iPhone & PI for Blackberry

So there are 5 of us on one team. 4 have iPhones & 1 has a blackberry. The 4 on iphones are using PI and are synching "work calendars" through google calendar. In PI, when we enter a new event, we change the calendar to "work calendar" (which we have setup to share with each other in google calendar) and that is the only calendar that will show up on the other 3 iphones. By doing it this way, we ensure privacy of "personal calendars"

If we were to incorporate the person with the BB, would there be a way to separate his work items from his personal items when he enters a new work event? We don't want to see each other's personal calendars so as to prevent unnecessary clutter.

And since I'm already here, does PI Android support multiple calendars cause i think we're getting a new person who uses an Android phone?

Toodledo Subtasks

Hi All,
I've searched a few times through the forums but can't seem to get a definitive answer to my question.
I'm testing out the subtask feature of Toodledo, and I'm running PIBB 2.51

It appears that subtasks created in Toodledo sync to PIBB, but are flat (in the hierarchy), and are not related to their parent task. Is there a way to fix this? I have PI for iPod Touch as well, and I see they seem to sync nicely there. However, since I use a BB all day for work, I was hoping to get this working on the BB.
Anyway, I.T. copied over all my settings, etc. to the new device, but didn't/won't copy 3rd party applications.

Task due time

Greetings,

There are still major problems in PI with timezones, which I am resolved may never, ever be fixed. (For example, a recurring meeting that happens every Monday at 10:00 a.m. will COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR from the calendar if I change time zones on the phone, then will come back when I return home).

But, overall, I am learning to live with some of the chaos, waiting for a better option. One thing I have noticed is that if I go west one hour (subtract one hour), many of my TASKS will show on the wrong DATE now. That's because, if I look at the task, the task due "time" was 12:00 a.m., so, correctly, it would now be 11:00 p.m. the *previous day* in the new time zone. That is actually correct--that is how standard GMT offsets should work. So, for once, yay!

The bad effect, then, is that midnight rolls back. I never, ever, use due TIMES for tasks--if it had a due TIME then I would make it an appointment. I ONLY use due DATES for tasks. So, I changed defaults in PI to be such that all new TASKS have a due TIME of 12:00 NOON (not midnight). That means I'd have to travel 12 time zones east or west before this issue would happen again with the date rollover. Super.

All of that is background.

The problem is this. I use Outlook 2007. When I create a new task in Outlook, it does not prompt me for a due TIME. There is NO field for that. There is no default for that. I can find nothing to indicate there is. (NOTE: I am not talking about REMINDERs--I'm talking about the task itself). But, when the task syncs to PI, PI, which does show due TIMES, shows it as due on the correct date...at 12:00 midnight. Thus, if I go west one hour, it rolls (see above). I know that this is not an Outlook forum, but I have Googled that plenty and can't seem to find an answer. Does anybody know how to set up Outlook, or PI's sync of Outlook, such that new TASKS created *in Outlook* have a different due TIME?

Again, if I create the task in PI on my BlackBerry, everything is fine. The only issue here is that if I create a task in Outlook 2007 and sync that to PI, then PI on the phone will "see" that task as due on the correct date but at 12:00 midnight on said date, and that goes wrong if I shift time zones. I would like to somehow hack things so that a new task created IN OUTLOOK is "due" at 12 noon (even though I don't care about the time) so that, just like PI-created tasks, I get plenty of timezone tolerance on the task.

I hope this is clear.

Thanks,

Month View bug

I am re-posting this as I believe I placed it in the incorrect forum location originally.

Has anyone noticed that when in month view a finger tap on a specific day results in a confirmation dialog box for the event that coincides with the tap position on the day view? Let me explain with the sequence:
1. Open up month view
2. Tap the day you want to go to
3. App takes the user to Day View but there is a dialog box asking the standard questions for opening a recurring meeting ("Edit this event or entire series? THIS, ALL, THIS AND FUTURE, CANCEL). (Keep in mind that the user has not yet selected an event; only the day on which the event occurs.)

I have noticed that the event it thinks the user wants to open/edit is directly "below" the spot that coincides with the day that was tapped in the month-view calendar (I apologize for the convoluted explanation).

Once the user selects "CANCEL" the dialog box goes away and one can choose the event to be viewed or edited.

Minor problem but a tad irritating.

Thanks and keep up the good work,

Hello,
When I create a new event in calendar view the default start time is always the current time. For example if I create a new event on Wednesday and the current time is 6pm the new event will have today's date and also the current time 6pm. Is there a way to change this default value to say an hour from the current time (of creation) when creating a new event in calendar view or any other arbitrary value? I'm constantly fumbling with this and could not find a setting in the options menus as it would save me a lot of time. I use the new event feature to set reminders for myself.

When synching using direct sync to Outlook (2010) with my Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6, do I have to only synchronise in Blackberry Desktop Manager using the synchronise option on the Addin tab
or do I also have to synchronise on the Organizer tab?

Or do I have to sync them both?

Syncing overwrites all categories/settings

First, let me say, Iīm working with PI for many years. Mostly in WinCE, since two years with BB. So I think, I know about the software and syncing.

Since synching with the 2.11 version didnīt fit for me (see here) I worked with the 2.0 version without problems til now.
Now some days ago, suddenly the error "Pocket Informant synchronization interface tables not found ..." appeared again on my system. No chance to get it away. Dontīs ask me how often I deinstalled/reinstalled the DesktopSoftware resp. the BB Software.
So I thought, I try to update to the 2.11 version. Indeed, the error above disappeared, but .....

after first synching, when I start PI on my BB, there comes the message: "Pocket Informant has been installed for the first time. How would you like ...."

If I sync then again, the Desktopsoftware shows the message: "Event sync was just enabeld. Do you want to clear ...". Regardless of whether I choose yes or no, after the sync, all categories/setings etc. on the BB are deleted.
And PI again says: "Pocket Informant has been installed for the first time. How would you like ...."

Again, regardless, wich option I choose here, the next sync, again asks: "Event sync was just enabeld. Do you want to clear ..."
And again all categories/settings are deleted/overwritten.

Its terrible. I again deinstalled/reinstalled the Desktopsoftware and PocketInformant completely for many times. But every sync ignores the previous sync actions and deletes all setings/categories.

Anybody here with an idea to help ?
