It does appear to work with category colors. The black text is the problem. The text needs to stay the color as set in the various text color settings.

I had to back out to PI2007 Rev 2 until this is corrected. I cannot use the Contacts screen if the search does not show the names.

Describe me what you want to see and I will consider it for a future rev. I am already looking at for PI 2008 doing some "View" specific additions and changes and to me, the search tab has always done everything journals needed. For example - why can't I just add grouping to the search tab and get what you want there? Give me a solid business reason to add a whole new view.

In fact, as a new PI user, I had not spent much time on the Search page - the manual only gives a short 2 page description. I completely agree that minor additions to the Search page would address my needs. The "Type" field used on Journal entries is not available for Sort By. A grouping feature where the search results could be displayed in different blocks, separated by the divider bars that now only contain a count (e.g. a "group by category" or "group by type" option. Also, the ability to show less information per Journal entry - I never really want to see the text contents of the entry before I tap on it - just the Subject, Type, Date, and Category (not shown now) with only two lines per entry, would help get more entries on the screen and decrease the scrolling needed. The new Category Filter page is fantastic by the way. So, some modest enhancements to the Search tab would be a big help in managing hundreds of journal entries.

I was just working on that actually. For the moment, I simply have added an option to let you edit calls made from within PI. This could be tedious but my second thought is if you edit - we might as well do all the edits that we do for normal bluetooth. By default it would act the same way, but you can change it to do what you're asking.

Anything you could provide here would be great - the option to enable/disable prefixing, etc. on a Native Phone, without forgetting the prefix field values would be perfect for example.

One other comment: on the month view in in-line mode (an amazing PI feature), I love the way my jogdial on the tytn lets me scroll through the days quickly. However, I then have to reach for my stylus to change anything. It would be great if the center button on the D-pad then let me select a give day (rather than closing the day zoom again), and then the jogdial woudl let me scroll down the days appointments, and again the center button would let me select an appointment for editing. That would be true one-handed performance !

Many thanks for listening to the input of your beta users personally !

Loading calendar or contacts takes between 5-10 seconds. Not too bad. But with the Journal "search" method, loading my current 84 journal items takes close to 15 seconds. If I modify a Journal title, it does not display unless I refresh with another search.

I also believe JS2 works very well, so I think Journalling will become very important to me. I'd like the today plugin to have a Journal option -- this would allow me to use the current PocketBreeze Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks tabs, but have a new PI tab that would allow me to scroll through the Journal items.

----------------
Rev 3 Looks great ! The improved contacts and one-handed usage are fantastic. New beta's always inspire new requests, so let me get two of them out there:

1) Now with JS2 working so well, and with the powerful integration of Journal entry creation into PI, I find I am generating lots more Journal entries. I think
its time to give them their own tab, similar to the Notes tab, with the ability to organize by category, type, date, apply filters, etc. Using the standard Search utility
to create one monolithic list to scroll through every time is not very efficient. Any chance for a real Journal tab in PI instead of just a Journal List ?

Describe me what you want to see and I will consider it for a future rev. I am already looking at for PI 2008 doing some "View" specific additions and changes and to me, the search tab has always done everything journals needed. For example - why can't I just add grouping to the search tab and get what you want there? Give me a solid business reason to add a whole new view.

On my HTC P3300, I tend to use the Scroll Wheel to scroll through my contacts list. However, the scrolling speed in PI 2007 is so low that this is simply unusable. The default contacts program is much quicker. In PI, scrolling takes so long that the Alpha Skipping feature is pointless.

It was enough of a reason for me to uninstall PI (even though I have a license), because it just takes too long to browse to a desired contact.

For some reason my contacts now have the first initial in a block and reversed out, ie if the main text is black then the first letter is white out of blue. There is also a line beneath the ABC bar that has some filtering information which I don't need. I know if I am Filter I then if I go left there is H and if I go right there is J. How do I resort to a normal screen, there is nothing that leaps out at me in the options, but then I am getting on a bit! Screenshot attached.

The white out of blue is the highlight as you are searching by initial. Thats all as far as i am aware. What more do you mean? What are you expecting to see instead?
As for the filtering information, that is for the D-Pad users out there, although i do know what you mean about knowing what is there though. I thought that too.
The top bar tells you what it before and after. So i too cannot see the point in wasting screen space on a bar that tells you what you already know! LOL.

This One Handed PI it's fantastic. I suggest that it'd be possible that with one hand "clik or button" we can go to "today" in calendar view (doing the same that we do with the stilus in the up left icon) when we are viewing another day.

I don't want the highlight, just the name in black. Heck, if I don't know that the name Falder doesn't start with an F I should be taken out and shot

Back to the menus option and look for highlights ...

You can increase scrolling speed simply by turning off features to match the built in Contacts. On my Treo with all the bells and whistles, scrolling is as fast as the built in Contacts. But on some devices it won't be - depends on the data and the device.

PI does not read all contacts and display them on screen. It only reads 30 or so and displays them on screen, as you scroll we read in more contacts in real-time. Now if you have category colors, icons, and note icons on - this will dramatically increase the time it takes to read those contacts and will match how the built in Contacts works. BTW - all this stuff is dependant on the raw read speed of the database on your device.

Unfortunately you won't find any - its not an option. I could potentially remove the highlights for A-Z simple letter filtering.

PI Rev 3 Cingular 8525
Maybe it's just me but if i do a Tap and Hold on a contact name and choose "Agenda Tools" and then choose "Show Appointments With" PI search results pretty much brings up everything in my calendar whether the original contact I did the Tap and Hold on is involved or not. Not only does it bring up unrelated appointments to the contact, it also shows these unrelated appointments multiple times in the list. The same item comes up sometimes 3, 4 and 5 times in a row listed one right after the other....?

Anyone else?

Yes, happens to me also. It's interesting that I have the same TyTN as you except that I am using WM6 -- XDA Live.

WM6 huh? Yeah, I was too chicken to upgrade mine. How did upgrading with XDA Live go? Is it easy?
Do the other PI apps. work well on it?
