I'm attempting to add a Gmail account to my FlexMail rev 2 app, but keep running into the following smtp error:

Transport error: The server did not properly respond after a period of time.
Account: "Gmail".
Server: "smtp.gmail.com".
Protocol: SMTP. Port: 465 SSL: Off.
Error Code: #80C0014

What needs to be configured on the STMP end to get this to work? I believe everything is in order on the Gmail side (pop forwarding and so forth).

Hello,

I believe Gmail's smtp server requires ssl on.

I was wondering if it was an SSL issue, and I had played around with the SSL settings but they did not appear to have any effect. However, I changed the outgoing port for the SMTP setting to 587 and that worked.

Is your gmail set up for POP3 forwarding? (sorry if this sounds basic, but you didn't indicate what you've already tried other that the port)

Here are the settings gmail servers are looking for from a client according to their web pages: (if you don't have authentication turned on, then you won't be able to send mail)

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL: pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your Gmail username (including @gmail.com)
Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)
Password: your Gmail password

Hope this helps,

I'm having the same issues with sending email in Flexmail with a gmail account. Here are my settings on the outgoing server tab

Host address: smtp.gmail.com
Port 465 (have changed this to 587 as well; still didnt work)
Timeout: 1 minute
Security settings; Checked
"Using same settings as incoming mail"
Use SOCKS server: Unchecked
Use secure connection: Checked
Connection type is implicit
Protocol Versions: SSL2 checked; SSL3 checked; TLS 1 checked
Security settings: Unchecked
Use secure authentication: unchecked

when i send an email I get the following error:

Protocol error: Unknown error.
Server REsponse: "535 5.7.1
Credentials Rejected
l28sm382599waf".
Account: "Gmail".
Server: "smtp.gmail.com".
Protocol: SMTP. Port: 465. SSL: Off.
Error Code: #80C3D6A3.

Any suggestions?

Under my SSL settings on my Axim, the Connection Type I have have is set to Explicit (connects to regular port)...and the "Use insecure connection if secure one cannot be established" is unchecked. Not sure if that makes a difference, but you could give that a try.

I've tried all of the advice in this topic and still can't get my gmail to work with Flexmail 2007 on my Motorola Q (WM5). I've tried to template set-up and manual set-up. I have POP enabled in Gmail. Any advice? Here's the error I'm currently receiving when I try to check my gmail:

Transport error: The destination network is unreachable.
Server: pop.gmail.com
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
SSL: Off
Error Code: #80C00010

I'm not sure why it says SSL is off when I have it checked in the settings.

If you've tried the settings provided above, your best bet is probably to open a support ticket at http://webis.net/support
