using the actual beta on a german HTC HD2....so far no problems except one:
when I try to open a contact with large notes content (15-20 lines) it takes 5 seconds to open this contact!!! Ithink this is a long time for a smartphone with 1 ghz snap dragon processor! Also scrolling and changing within this contact is taking very long time.
Any other contact with no notes content or only 1-3 lines notes content is opening directly within a second. I have nearly 250 contacts.
I would say that this behaviour is new!
Thanks

My device is: Dell Axim x51v (6.1 Classic) and the product I am reporting an issue with is Pocket Informant. The version number I am using is FTF 9.11 Build 2417. My problem from start to finish is when using "Go To Date" or the date selector, PI crashes. It's happened with PI versions 9.10 (release date of 12/1/2009) and FTF 9.11 numerous times. First experienced in version 9.10 and again after upgrading to v 9.11.
Please let me know if you need more information from me.
Thanks,
Robert

Can you tell me what an 'FTF' is, where/how it is announced in your Forums and how i go about downloading the updates (for example, I read in your Forum that you had uploaded a new build of 9.11 Beta but I can only find a November 2009 CAB file download!).
I am also looking for advice on using the 'MyText' function - there does not seem to be much to explain why you need a text entry and a seperate name for the same entry and why it is a macro and not just plain text, etc., etc. Athough I am an experienced computer user, i am a bit of a novice with your Application.
Please advise

An FTF is an in-between release, a Field Test Fix, that we put up only in this specific forum here that allows us to provide fixes and also make sure that the fix is correct before we have a full release. It makes no sense to #1 make a customer wait 3-4 months for a bugfix if the bugfix is done simply because we're not ready to release it to the public yet; and #2 to assume our bugfix is perfect.
So we post them here and when we are ready for release - we release it officially.

It can be plain text or plain text with a Macro. MyText is simply that - a way to enter pre-defined phrases or macros easily and quickly. "Lunch with %fname% at TBD" is an example. Or just plain "Lunch". Macros aren't required.
- If you don't see an answer from me quickly, then know that I'm just really busy getting work done (fixing bugs, creating new features, or just plain trying to manage all of our other engineers on their projects).
- If you need a near immediate response, please contact support.

Many thanks for the clarifications - sorry to be so thick! Can you tell me where I can download ver 9.11 and will I get e-mail notification when the FTF for my problem is uploaded?

Problem updating PI solved. I was downloading it to my SDHC card. Once I downloaded it directly to the device, all worked fine.

Hi Alec,
any help?
Turn on the Notes split view instead of in-line notes.

I have been running PI for many versions , Axim x51v, 8525 , Tilt both stock roms and cooked ones , and now Tilt 2 still stock ,
I down loaded the latest version of PI (trial version) to see how it works on the Tilt2 , i have found that it is duplicating contacts and is not becoming the default app for the soft key contact button.(i have to remapp a hard key for PI usage)..btw i am using the stock AT&T rom with Win 6.5 Pro CE OS 5.2.21849 build21849.5.0.63
also the "file as" in contact display is not properly showing the contacts like in previous versions
I have hard rest and started fresh loaded PI frist before adding contacts ,btw i have 200 plus in outlook.and they are correctly filed and sync fine with the Tilt 1 i still have....
Just wanted make you guys aware.of this bug...
Thank you for a great product...

Some of my contact notes seem to crash the phone, or at least it would be quicker to do a reset to get on with life!
I have removed all these notes and put them in files and linked the files to the contacts. Ugh!
Hopefully this will be fixed soon, PLEASE :-)
(I reported this to support well over a week ago, but no reply yet. Guess it isn't necessary now).

I can attest that it hasn't changed. FileAs is taken straight from the FileAs field with no modifications at all. Plus PI can't be duplicating contacts - we're not syncing them. We're simply showing what's in the database.

I'm afraid it won't be. There is a reason the long notes cause that huge delay - we have to convert them from the proprietary format that MS stores them in, then manually flow all the text. That takes a lot of power and our engine isn't designed for that.
The split view uses the native MIcrosoft notes viewer control that can take the note data directly so it doesn't need to do any processing on it. That's why its faster, but you're right its not finger friendly.
Unfortunately that's the way its going to be until WM7.
